Falcon Lake Bass Fishing

Falcon Lake | Winter Bass Fishing

I started 2019 out heading down south to Falcon Lake and the fishing down here has been awesome! The fishing patterns on Falcon Lake here lately have been a little different. For the past month I have been targeting staging pre spawn bass and bass on beds. The heavy winds down here has the water temps at 56-63 degrees with water clarity varying around the lake.

Staging Pre Spawn Bass
The staging bass I am focusing on river channels swings and secondary points in depths around 8ft to 16ft. The more structure or cover around these areas, the better. Majority of the time the Carolina Rigs and Big Texas Rigs seem to be working for me. The best baits for me have been the Brush Hog on a Carolina Rig and a 10 1/2 inch worm on the Texas Rig.

Bass on Beds
The best areas for bedding have been protected coves around timber in depths varying between 2ft to 6ft depending where you are on the lake. The best baits that have been doing the trick for me are a Texas Rigged Pegged Creature Bait in a Watermelon based color.

As my time down at Falcon Lake is coming to an end, it has definitely been worth the drive! I will be heading back up to the Legendary Lake Fork to get in on some pre-spawn action!
